I bought a Delta 5 hp 3 phase shaper, however I can’t find anyone who sells the cutter size that I need. It is from around 1991 and has the model number is 43-385. It was manufactured with the 1 inch solid spindle. I have 4000 bd/ft of pine that I was going to make v paneling for the basemnet ceiling. I can’t find anyone who sells v panel cutters with a 1 inch bore. It doesn’t appear that I can switch spindles from the look of it.
I really want to figure out where or how to get this machine to work because I know it was only used occasionally for the first four years and then not used. I have it cleaned up and running great by need the cutters.
Thanks for any help
Tom

1" spindle
Yep, according to the instruction manual, the 1" spindle is integral to the housing and can't be changed.
The manual is available through the Delta Servicenet site:

Grizzly Industrial appears to have a number of cutters with a 1" bore, but may not have the pattern you are looking for.
Get a set of bushings
And use 1-1/4" bore cutters.

Interchangable cutter head.
I'd buy a head that takes interchangable tooling for the 1-inch spindle.
Here is one from CMT, that comes with the 13 most popular profiles, and CMT has another 170 or so, stock profiles and custom ones can be ground by quite a few places. "CMT 692.013.10 13 Piece 4-by- 1-Inch Multiprofile Molding and Profile Shaper Cutter Set". Amazon lists the set for $266, extra knives run between 15 and 30-dollars per pair. Which puts the cost per profile down there with the router bits, once you own the head.
