I’ve seen the campeachy (or campeche) chair belonging to Thomas Jefferson and would love to reproduce it. It’s typically covered in upholstered leather so I can’t tell from frontal photos whether the back and seat are solid wood or slats. Are you familiar with this type of chair?

Hi,
I'm not familiar at all with this chair so I looked it up on-line. Here's the link I found: http://monticellostore.stores.yahoo.net/111006.html
They say on the site here that the seat is slung leather that is reinforced. It looks like it's tacked in place at the edges and then hangs free. I'm also figuring one frame for the seat and one for the back. This way you'll have four rails to tack into and some side to side support as well. Good luck. Gary
