I understand the red streaks tend to fad and turn rust or brown over time, but I have seen turnings that seem to have arrested that progression. What finish will do that?

I asked a similar question about a year or so ago. I was told that the only way to keep the red streaks was to keep the item out of UV/sunlight. The other way it can be accomplished is airbrushing the red streaks on with paint/stain (I have never tried this). I have a bowl on my desk that I turned six months ago and I am watching to see how long it takes for the red to fade.
