Did some searching on the web last night looking for info. on the Wood Fast Lathes being sold by Harbor Freight. The machine is made in Australia by a well established, reputable manufacturer.
The reviews are all pretty good, and at $1200, it appears not only to be an affordable alternative to more expensive models such as the big Delta or Powermatic, it may be just as good a machine. (There’s even a web discussion group for owners of the Wood Fast and ONEWAY. Can’t jump to conclusions, but I think HF is either be breaking into the big time, or they managed to get a bunch of good lathes for cheap.)

Woodfast is definitely a well known and respected name in lathes. I don't know if I'd put them in the same class as One Way, though.
I'm going a lot on what I see in the illustrations in the books I read on turning - I figure if the author of the book shows a particular lathe in his shop, well, without even anything said it's something of an endorsement.

Dennis,
Probably not, but the two names keep getting thrown about when talking about large lathes. BTW, in the ad. for his school, David Elsworth specifically mentions having a WoodFast.
