I am “building” a finish with 2:1 ratio of Danish Oil to solvent for the first coat. I am uncertain which is the best thinning solvent to use: mineral spirits, paint thinner, naptha, etc. I am applying the finish to Bocote wood, if that matters.
Thanks for any help,

Danish oil
Danish Oil as it is usually formulated already has 1/3 thinner since the usual mix is equal parts varnish, oil, and thinner. Any solvent on your list would work fine, you could add turpentine to the list. You mention "building" a finish. with panish oil you alway should vigorously wipe off any excess on the surface. The goal is an even sheen that looks like any finish is IN the wood not on it. If you do end up with a surface film it would be soft almost sticky.
