Best Peppermill/Saltmill Mechanisms

I have been asked to turn a pair of mills, one for salt and one for pepper using the best hardware available. I have a ceramic Pugeot mill and love it, but as far as I can tell, Pugeot does not sell kits. From what I have read, a ceramic mill is necessary for salt. Does anyone have any recommendations on mill kits? I may have to buy a couple mills and steal their hardware.

Lee Valley, Rockler and Woodcraft (among others, probably) sell ceramic salt/pepper mill mechanisms. I think they're all the same brand, actually.

One of the best IMHO is sold by Beall http://www.bealltool.com/products/turning/peppermills.php Beall also has some other really neat of stuff as well. I use his angle gauge, called "The Tilt Box" better than the Wixey, which I also own. His wood threading tools and treen chucks are super also. The web site takes a bit of searching to find items but it is a wealth of fine products.

No salt, just pepper. The mechanism is adjustable so you can regulate the size of the grindings so I wouldn't think that salt would be a problem. You could call JR Beall (1-800-331-4718) and talk to him or his staff. They are about 30 miles from me and are a small buisiness that only sells products that are a cut above the average. JR is particular as to what he peddles.
