I will be tagging along on a business trip to San Francisco the first week of March. While rambling around on my own for a few days, I’d love to make better use of my time beyond visiting the standard tourist spots.
Does anyone know of or have any recommendations for furnituremaking exhibits, galleries or shows that I should visit? Even taking a short class would be nice — are there any instructors or schools that I could contact?
Thanks in advance,
David

One place you'd undoubtedly find interesting is Berkeley Mills. They make fine furniture and are located (in all places) Berkeley. I absolutely love their Arts & Crafts furniture. To see some samples of their work look at http://www.berkeleymills.com. I don't think they'd let you in the shop, but the furniture is exquisite and the showroom is where they make the furniture ... it's an extremely large building.

Check the Resources page on the Bay Area Woodworkers Association site (http://www.geocities.com/bawanewsletter/index.html). There are a bunch of places you might want to visit.
Thanks John and Jamie... I'll check out both sites.
Jeff, thanks to you, too -- we posted at virtually the same time!

David,
I've admired this guys works on the net. Spoke with him via e-mail a time or two quite a while back and thought next time I was in that area I'd like to see it in person. Perhaps you'll find it worth the effort. He had some of his work on display in a San Francisco gallery at the time.
