I am finishing up a major bathroom renovation and my customer handed me a picture of the vanity she would like custom made for the job. I have made quite a few pieces of furniture in the past but by no means consider myself advanced in my abilities.
Basically, the vanity is 48″ wide and 36″ high, three drawers on each side approx. 14″ wide and a center door. The picture shows queen anne legs approximately 6″ high with a curved apron around the front and sides. I guess the idea is making a cabinet and having it look like a piece of furniture
Any sources for pre-made Queen Anne legs?
Regarding construction, I would think the easiest would be a separate frame construction where the apron was mortised into the legs. and then to make the chest and set on top with a molding around the point of transition. Suggestions?
The vanity top is 1 1/8″ thick marble with an impregnanted sink. Would it be wise to make a couple of center supports underneath (hidden legs) to support this weight? I don’t think they would be seen unless you get down on your stomach and look.
She wants the piece painted, so I was going to use cabinet grade birch plywood with poplar for all stiles, rails, face frames and exposed plywood edges. Opinions?
Thanks as always for your help and input.

Try Matthew Burak (http://www.tablelegs.com), Osborne wood products, or Adams wood products.

Yes.

Poplar will work. I prefer soft maple for a painted application - I find it will finish out smooth as glass. Doesn't sound like you will need a lot of wood so the higher cost of maple is negligible.
Good luck,

For whats its worth, don't know if they are what you are looking for, but Lowes has Queen Anne legs for $10 apiece. If they are what you need, its hard to justify the time and cost to make them yourself, especially if this will be a painted project.
