Awesome Place To Get Lumber South Jersey
Today, I found a new place to get lumber off of Route 206 in Springfield, Burlington County. They have a barn full of large beautiful slabs of domestic woods. A lot of their woods were harder to find species such as apple, zelkova, paulownia, catalpa, and sassafras. I have found it very difficult to find wood of this quality in the area and thought I should share this find with everyone here. The farm is owned by one of the Willards who run Willard’s lumber in Trenton. Some of their pieces had the locations from where they were cut and the date the were planted. In addition they had some local made furniture pieces that were gorgeous. I’m not trying to advertise for them but if you are not too far away it is definitely a place to check out.
Happy Woodworking!

What's the name of the place?
I'm always looking for good sources in NJ. I have to say that my last couple of trips to Willard Brothers in Trenton were disappointing. Prices are high, quality wasn't so good. Wanted $11 for 8/4 walnut and there wasn't a good piece in the rack.
Disappointing. I've gotten a lot of good stuff there over the years.

The barn is on the property of Sandy Creek Farm. It is about a 1/2 mile before the farmer's market. If I had an address I would give it to you. I'm not sure if this is permanent or if they are just renting space for a short period of time. I have not looked to see how the prices compare to the timber market report. The wood wasn't cheap but I thought they were good prices considering the quality of what you were getting. If you haven't been there another local place is Mr.Robert's Lumber in Barrington. I don't think they are anything special but they have a large selection of domestic and exotic hardwoods.
Groff&Groff in buck,pa has just about anything you could ask for.If you want to drive over. Its about an hour and a half,or you can order it over the phone, which I do. They are very reliable,if you give them an accurate description of want you want(figured,wide,exotic,etc.).I'm from south, south jersey,UPS for me is one day. They have an add in the back of FWW,with a toll free number. Q
Thank you for the information. I will have to check them out sometime.
Mind me asking exactly where? I live in Cumberland County but I frequently ride my Harley up into the pineys and 206 just for pleasure.

Unfortunately I can not seem to find an exact address for this place but it is about a 1/2 mile from the Columbus Farmers Market. Its on 206. It is located on the property of Sandy Hills Tree farm. There is a large historic brick house that is hard to miss. The address for the farmers market is:
2919 Route 206 South
Columbus, NJ 08022I wish I had better directions for you. Sorry.
OK, I'm familiar with the market. Is the farm marked as such?

There is a sign out front that says sandy hills christmas tree farm. If you are going north of rt 206 it will be on the left side of the road and it is after the wawa on Jacksonville Jobstown road and before you hit the farmer's market. Here is a link of a map.http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=40.043731,-74.722438&spn=0.010365,0.025835&t=h&z=16&msid=112098392925497331628.00047ab1bb5bf0ecc7a8c

Great! That makes it easy enough. I may head up there this winter and check it out.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Here is an article that was just in the paper about this place:
