Here’s a question to think about.
Even with my duct collector I still get fine dust around the place.
I’m planning to buy one of the JDS air filters to hang from the
ceiling.
I use a couple of the Sears HEPA filters in my house.
Any idea how they would work in a woodshop for clearing the air.

Consider a finer felt bag on the dust collector and dust pick up off the blade on the table saw as well as the JDS
Jeff,
I have the same problem, we all do. I bought a $3.00 20"x20" furnace filter and duct taped it to a 20"/20" box fan. It sits on top of my shaper bed most of the time, blowing away from me. If I'm sanding I move it right next the work area. Hit it with the shop vac every now and then. I expect to replace it with a new one in a few months. The filter changing from white to walnut brown proves to me its working.
I've seen the nice commercial brands at the woodworking shows for years. I've been waiting for the price to come down. But at $300 plus I'm still waiting.
The upgraded filters for the DC's have caught my eye. Got me thunking!
Enjoy, Roy

The problem isn't with the dust collector, but with all the odds and
ends that generate dust that the collector doesn't get a chance to
collect.
I've got the usual filter on fan arrangement when working and sanding.
I'm working on a pick-up arm for the tablesaw.
My cut-off saw and radial saw have a pick-up attached.
But somehow I still seem to end up with general dust in the air from
diferent operations.
I know I need a air filter and either a large unit or a HEPA filter
is probably the best way.
I'll probably end up with the large JDS hanging unit (best review) in
the end.
Was hoping someone would know if a HEPA type household unit wouldbe
any good, or not worth it.
