An interesting Unisaw discovery
I have a new 5HP Unisaw that I purchased from the Dewalt Service Ctr last Fall. It’s taken me until last weekend to get 220V wired into the shop. In the interim, I purchased a few accessories such as a Ridge Carbide 2000 combo blade. When the power was finally hooked up I turned on the saw. Quiet, no vibration. . .everything I hoped for.
I then decided to mount the Ridge Carbide blade. Surprise! The tolerances were so close between the arbor and the blade that the shroud surrounding the front of the blade got in the way. I couldn’t mount the blade until after I removed the shroud. No wiggle room whatsoever! I removed the dust shroud, bent it further open and then reinstalled it. A minor PITA, but worth noting.
I made a few test cuts with the Ridge blade. I’m very pleased with the results. Oak, maple, cherry and cocobolo all came out smooth as glass on crosscuts and only the smallest amount of roughness on rips.
Regards,
Ron

Ridge makes excellent blades, that are also less prone to getting chipped teeth compared to most other brands. They also offer resharpening for their blades which is a definite plus.
