2 Spindle Horizontal Boring Machine?
So, what’s the advantage of two spindles over one?
Is there some speed benefit that’s of value in a production environment – i.e. gets the job done faster?
Or is there some additional feature(s) or capabilities that two spindles bring beyond a single spindle?

Dan, The 2 spindles drill two dowel holes at the same time , in a production environment that is half the time . Not all applications call for 2 holes so perhaps you can operate with only one bit and bore singles .

Dan,
The main advantage is to have a fixed OC distance between holes. For instance, Blum drawer faces and other products require 2 holes for each fastener, 32 mm apart. The double spindle, at 32 mm, eliminates any possibility of error, at least regarding the distance between holes, not to mention taking half the time.
I am currently involved in setting up a manufacturing facility where we need to drill 4"x4" posts with two holes for mounting plates (hundreds of them every month). The holes will be 64mm apart, and I'm using a 2-spindle machine with that spacing.
