Over thinking this and under posting useful info. See what a new Minimax 12" jointer goes for. See if parts are still available, not a deal breaker by any means but leverage. I repair machines and can still keep a outdated, no parts available, machine going. What are other comparable 12" jointers going for? How bad do you want or need one???
Price is dependent on the used machine market in your area. A well kept machine with parts available can go for more than the original cost so 50% of the original cost means nothing in most cases.
Good machine and blades certainly available. As afar as value you don't give the slightest info to even guess. No easy answer with no info. Craigslist???

hm. well i got this particular jointer off Craigslist for $1500. seemed like i good price for a minimax jointer. it has a 1ph 3hp baldor in it. it also came with a 3ph Italian motor. the machine runs perfectly, has some dings and scratches in the case, but the beds are perfect no rust no pits no scratches. the seller also gave me a second fence system. which i figure will be good for parts some day.... did i get my #### handed to me or did i get lucky.
Kind of late now and it still might not be the end of the world if they don't, but you might want to check with Minimax-Usa to see if they can or do stock parts for the older Minimax machines (ones they didn't import to the US). A new Delta DJ-30 goes for about $4200 for comparison..
