I recently bought a round 1960s style dining room table. It came with six bucket-style chairs in which the seat is atop a 13″ high wood-clad column. The column–11″ diameter–sits on a wide wood pedestal. The seat is clearly meant to swivel, but all six chairs appear locked in a non-swivel position. The only apparent way to unlock them it is via a 3/8″ diameter round hole in the column about 3″ from the seat.
Can you give me info about how to make the seats swivel?

I would look for a screw or bolt that is accessible, and removable, through the hole. Is there anything visible?

Thanks. It makes sense. A probe goes about 2.5" into the hole before making contact. I've tried a screw driver with no luck. I can't see into the hole with a normal flashlight. Appreciate any further suggestions.
Can you stick a lump of clay or something on the end of your probe to make an impression? Might be a hex drive or something.BruceT
