I have an opportunity to buy an HB Smith 16 x 72 inch jointer, I haven’t actually seen it yet, looks to be at least 40 years old. Any idea how much it is worth?? The seller just wants the highest bid or he’ll scrap it! I’ve offered him $1000 and he didn’t turn it down.

These machines are commonly available for very little money, the cost of moving them and getting them wired up is so expensive, and there is so little demand, that they are being given away. You probably overbid, so try to negotiate the price lower.
