Made You Look: Blair Glenn’s ‘Run of the mill’
Blair's videos rekindle the connection between the things we make and the tree that made it possible.I think it’s fairly common for us woodworkers to lose the connection between the things we make and the tree that made it possible. I’ve been watching Blair’s YouTube videos for about 10 years. If I remember correctly, after this video went viral, guitar player Gary Burnette made me watch it in his home studio one day after a session. I was hooked.
A few years ago, I met Blair at Fine Woodworking Hands-On in San Diego. Blair was there to take a class with Michael Fortune and I was star struck running into him in the hallway. Blair is an arborist by trade and a talented woodworker by passion. His videos connect the two worlds for me like nothing else I’ve found.
This week we’re sharing some content that also connects the tree to the woodworker and I thought this would be a good time to share this wonderful video. If you’re impatient, the milling starts around the 7-minute mark.

Interesting video Ben. I like the concept of “made you look” videos.
Great video, perhaps a video or 2 on the different methods of sawing logs. For example: quartersawn logs, rift sawn and flat sawn like you just showed.
