Shopmade Tools: You have ’em, we want ’em

Author Headshot By Elizabeth Knapp Aug 17, 2012
    Article Image

This pair of grooving planes is by senior editor Matt Kenney, and was featured in FWW 219.

The next edition of Tools & Shops is in production now, and we’re looking for your shopmade handplanes, marking gauges, saws — you name it — to feature in the Readers Gallery. The gallery in this special issue usually focuses on either shopmade tools or beautiful shops, and if you have either, we’d like to see it.

Simply follow this link, fill out the form and send us a few photos, and you’ll be in the running for a spot in our gallery. The only catch is that we need them by Monday, August 27. So get out your camera and send us some shots, soon!

Elizabeth, while I certainly will enjoy seeing hand made tools in a FW gallery, I’d much rather see Fine Woodworking print one of their special publications on how to make some key hand tools (maybe 10 or 12). You may have to print two special editions, one for hand tools and one for power tools. I’ve seen quite a few power tools fabricated by fellow woodworkers. Many have published their work online, and would probably be happy to have their instructions published. Thanks.
