Video and Poll: Building a Workbench: Tips and Tribulations
I got to check in on Bill Peck’s workbench class last Thursday at the Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking to see how things were going. I met woodworkers from three different states (only two non-engineers) and put together this short video report on Friday.
Check it out to get a tip on tapping holes for vise hardware and get the inside scoop on taking a workbench class. These guys even let loose about some of the mistakes they made and how they worked around them. (For another tip, watch this short video with Bob Van Dyke and get his advice on a simple stop block with microadjust.)
Thinking about building a workbench yourself in the next year or so? What’s your plan? What do you think the pros and cons of building on your own versus in a class? Just the lumber alone for building a workbench is expensive so shelling out for class can be prohibitive for some.
