Wooden hat blocks — bandsaw skills that you may never need
We were recently contacted by someone asking if we had a secret trove of content on making hat blocks — wooden forms cut on a bandsaw that hat makers use to shape chapeaus.
Needless to say, this is not a topic we’ve ever covered. But a quick search of YouTube revealed a video of a hat block maker cutting and shaping a form on the bandsaw and then finishing up with a pneumatic sander.
I don’t plan on building myself a Stetson any time soon, but I found the video interesting, as I do anything involving woodworking.
