Editor's Review: Tenoning Jigs

by Strother Purdy

review date: February 1, 2005

A pair of vertical handles distinguishes the Delta 34-183 (as well as the Shop Fox and the Woodcraft) from the others in this review. When an angled cut is called for, each of these jigs has a main fence that can tilt the workpiece to the left up to about 18°. Also, using the secondary fence, the workpiece can be tilted forward up to 45°, and an adjustable stop makes it easy to return automatically to the 90° position. You need an Allen wrench to adjust the position of the clamp on these jigs. A knob would have made the process easier.

Cheap plastic lock levers. I was aligning the guide bar the instructions say to place it upside down when I did one of the PLASTIC levers broke off. The pointer was cheap not that I would rely on it.
