Editor's Review: New Breed of Bandsaws

by Thomas McKenna

review date: September 1, 2007

The Delta has plenty of capacity and a large tilting table, but it’s loud and vibration prone and made unsatisfactory resaw cuts. For the most part, fit and finish are poor, and dust collection is subpar.

I guess every tool mfr has a bad one as evidenced by the editor, however my experience with this bandsaw is completely opposite. Mine is very smooth running, nearly as smooth as my MM-16. As for power it is more than adequate for the tasks I've thrown at it. The dust collection on my 28-206 (yes I have three bandsaws) is better but with a good dust collector the results with this saw are very good. The table is as flat as any table I've seen on any bandsaw. The base cabinet is solid and I have yet to notice any flex in the saw even when under a hard load. I am extremely happy with this saw. When properly set up I believe this to be one of the best bandsaws on the market.
