The inspiration for the loft bed was to try and think what a little girl would like. The apex of the bed are the lily finials, which are hand carved, and hollowed to allow a little girl to place her earings or other adornments in the lily as she prepares for bed. The lilies are polished with a crackled white boulle and trimmed in 24k gold leaf. The sinker cypress posts represent the stem of the lily and the ladybug bolt covers (hand carved and cast in brass) are placed as to simulate ladybugs crawling up the stem of the lilies. The ladder is solid oak carved with snail’s shells at the top. The finish is button-lac shellac with wax.
