Mesquite fireplace mantle
I built this curved mantle piece from Arizona mesquite for a beehive fireplace. This was a joy to build as it was my first large steam bending project as well as my first bent lamination. My customers are extremely pleased with the piece, as are their grown children. If you haven’t had the chance to work with mesquite I highly recommened trying.
There are numerous cracks, voids, and termite hole when dealing with mesquite. Some people inlay turqoise or turquise colored resin in clear epoxy. For this project I used black dyed epoxy which blends in better with the mesquite.
