Zebrawood and Walnut Jewelry Box
I made this box as a donation to a local organization’s charity auction. I wanted to see how large a box I could make using my small shop and Doug Stowe’s guidance about boxmaking techniques. The tray was actually an afterthought but in fact I think makes the completed box work well. Zebrawood is challenging – it is waxy with confused grain; tears out like crazy.
Walnut box has a zebrawood top and maple accents. Measures approx. 17"x9"x6.75"
velvet lined tray inside
The tray has matching keyed mitered corners using contrasting maple.
Detail of the keyed corners. Thanks to Doug Stowe for his great books and the video workshops on FWW.
