Re: Total garage shop makeover
Dear Mike,
posted: 11:03 pm on September 14thI did a similar shop build last year and yes it feels good. Someday I would like to do my doors in a awsome manner like you did. The reason I am writing is to warn of the drywall seam cracking on every joint I have. Yes we did tape them. I believe from the manner garages are built that they are more prone to movement. That is why most garage floors in michigan are cracked and shifted. If I had it to do over I would have used osb and just painted it white. Oh well, Enjoy that new mancave it looks awsome!!!

Well guys I believe this is evidence of what the future holds for our children. In my opinion the younger generations do not know what true craftsmanship means let alone knowing how to perform quality tasks.I know that what craftsmen are around my neck of the woods do not even like to socialize in any manner. This saddens me on a daily basis because the true fact is that we are becoming a disposable society where everyone wants to be a hair dresser or video game programmer.

I have a fascination with old tools, well any tool to be honest. Some of the best tools I have are from yard sales.
posted: 12:03 am on December 13thOh yeah, doing some favors for friends like repaires or just building heirlooms have scored some dandies also. The point I am willing to share is we do the best with what we have, and if we don't have it then make it.I use cheap buck chisels and use the scary sharp method to keep them puppies sharp. Is it as good as japanese steel? ofcourse not,but they work just fine just ask my poor fingers.I never have to explaine what tools I used, but I do have to tell about the wood, finish and methods.I am not sure that people care about the tools as much as a true craftsman does. That said I enjoy what the Good Lord has allowed me to have, and for these reasons I am greatful.I turn out products that are loved locally and never seem to have any trouble staying busy. All done on a budget of less than $2000.00.I do look foward to getting upgrades in some tools in the future but in good time.Merry Christmas to all who read this.
