posted: 11:54 pm on December 10thI built a dedicated table saw sled to cut the miters and still had problems until I added slots for hold-downs, if the piece moves or lifts even slightly the miter won't be accurate.
I mortised for the quadrant hinges by hand and used a 1/8" spiral cutter (used to cut sheet-rock around electrical boxes) in my drill press as a sort of long router bit to drill and cut the deep mortise for the bar of the hinge to drop into. The hinge needs to be flush with the surface of the wood or the box won't close properly. I use a small curved carving gouge to cut the round ends of the mortise for the hinge leaf.
