Re: UPDATE: Finishing Wood from Fine Woodworking

I've been working on old wooden boats for forty years, and the only type of finishes I really know are oil-based paints and marine varnish. I have no idea how many gallons of varnish I've been through during that time, but it would float a small boat. But finishing for woodwork, and now wood turning since I've recently bought and restored an old 70's-era Craftsman wood lathe, is a mystery to me. It's time I educated myself.

If you plan to keep your liquor in a locker,
it is wise to keep a lock upon your stock.
Or some slicker who is quicker
soon will trick you of your liquor
if you fail to keep your liquor under lock.
