Wondering if this book has much in the way of refinishing. I've just received 5 additional dining room chairs that match the design of my existing chairs -- same manufacturer -- but the finish and upholstery are in bad shape, and don't match. If I win this book perhaps it will have advice on how to remove old finish and re-upholster these chairs.
I purchased the book through the Apple iBook store, and it didn't include the example file. Why don't you make a link available and put the file on Taunton's web site. Thanks. -- Steve L.
The Hancock Shaker Bench (cf. John G. Shea's book, Making Authentic Shaker Furniture) is quite similar to your design but uses four smaller braces rather than a single trestle brace. This would have eliminated the fussy alignment issue. Your sliding dovetails are a nice improvement to the original design. Very nice piece!
