Re: Make Your Own Dowels
Many good tips listed. One other, which is similar to SDBranam's tip: I had some maple dowel stock (store purchased) that was slightly too large for the mating holes. I cut the stock to length, then placed them on a microwave safe plate, and hit them with full power in our microwave for about a minute. I did about 2 dozen at a time. This dried them out, and subsequently reduced their diameter sufficiently to easily fit the holes. After they were glued up, they expanded from the glue's moisture, and weren't going anywhere. Just another alternative.

I'd be interested to know the name of the father/son team who were kind enough to show their chisel making techniques. It was a very interesting article. Thank you for sharing this information with us all.

I thought I'd read on a reputable Japanese seller's site that this old material was made without a common current chemical (sulfur is what comes to mind), which provided a beneficial aspect compared to the current wrought iron.
Look forward to your thoughts. Cheers.

Re: Easy-to-install spiral cutterheads for $250
Good to know. I just wish some company would come up with a replacement head that uses Tersa cutters. After watching a buddy show the quality of cut and how easy and quick it is to replace the cutters (without any required adjustment to align cutters), their technology just seems to be almost perfect.

Gregg,

I noticed your mentioning that the Tulipwood/Maple/Paduak handles have held up for "all these years". When did you make the cabinet?
Enjoy your SawStop. You certainly deserved the win.

Re: New video workshop: My massive bench
I think the date for the video should have read 2/23/09 as 2/13/09 wasn't a Monday. I was looking all over the site for the video, too, before I came to the conclusion about the date.
