Re: Deadline extended for tablesaw safety comments to the CPSC
I believe in personal freedom to the extent that it doesn't harm anyone else and I am not in favor of more government regulation than absolutely necessary. I did not like it when seat belts and motorcycle helmets were mandated. But, I wear my seatbelt because it has proven to be safer. I also wear a helmet in a state where it is not mandated. I bought a SawStop for the same reasons. It equals all similarly priced tools in quality and the safety factor puts it in a league of its own. I didn't need the government to figure that out for me and I don't need FWW magazine to lobby against safety. I feel the articles related to this issue have been very subjective personal opinion and certainly not what I would consider reporting.

Hmmm....I wonder if I should have designed the piece before I started building it?

He could have bought a Sawstop. He got what he paid for.

excellent interpretation of a classic design. Nice proportions, incl. tapered legs.

my experience teaches me that there are advantages to both sanding & planing, and a time for each.
