Snow sled for my boys

Inspired by the massive snowfall this year, I decided to build this sled for my twin 2 1/2 year old boys.   I searched online for plans but was unable to find anything I liked so I designed...

Mahogany Sofa and Ottomans

I built this sofa from a set of plans for an outdoor chair.  I simply changed the width of the piece to 6 feet long and added another ottoman.  The tray between the ottomans is...

Re: UPDATE: Windsor Chairmaking by James Mursell

I have always looked forward to making some Windsor chairs, the book looks like it would help!

Re: UPDATE: 2011 Fine Woodworking Archive DVD-ROM (1975 - 2011)

As a stay at home dad I am currently overwhelmed by my twin 3 year old boys. FWW is always my first stop when researching a new project so the DVD version would be more than helpful! Thanks for a great publication.

Re: UPDATE: Building Doors & Drawers by Andy Rae

If it would help me to design and build a door to keep my twin 3 year old boys in their room then I'm in!

Re: UPDATE: Book Giveaway: Fundamentals of Model Boat Building by John Into and Nancy Price

My father and I built our first model sailboat named "Eventually" from scratch over 25 years ago. We had a brochure from the manufacturer and scaled up the tiny 3 view drawing. She was built from pine and bondo (mostly bondo). We added radio control equipment some years later. She sails fine now but we still joke about how the boat may someday be finished, thus the name. It is a project that I will someday pass on to my young boys.

Re: Snow sled for my boys

Thanks for the comments,

The ash back piece and runners are all 1/4" thick. I re-sawed all three pieces from one piece of 5/4 ash. The sled is very fast on packed snow! When the boys get older, the backrest can be removed so they can lay down head first. I think by then I will have to make another one or two!

Re: Home of Eakins Fine Woodworks

Your shop looks great! I am jealous of your in floor heating. I have a shop of similar size but no heat yet. Someday....Cheers

Re: UPDATE: DVD Giveaway: Wood Science & Design by Hendrik Varju

I love to learn and I love woodworking. This looks like a great set. My fingers are crossed!

Re: UPDATE: Book Giveaway: Tables You Can Make, from the editors of Woodworker's Journal

I just came in from the shop and saw this. My first "real" furniture project was a table and I would love to build some more!
