Re: Teen Woodworkers Battle it Out for International Title

I have to ask. I am Canadian, one of my students won the provincial Skills competition (mechanics), and earned the right to compete nationally and perhaps after that internationally.

He didn't go because none of his trip was covered, it would have cost this kid at least likely $2000 to compete. I couldn't believe it, he was still a teen, where could he get that money. What a farce.

Is the US version the same?

Re: Teardrop tailer project

HA

When I read "got rid of the kids", I took it to mean they grew up.

And yes, I did celebrate when my two teenaged sons moved out, ahhhhhhhhh the peace and quiet.

I get what he meant.

Re: Tile and White Oak

Very nice, I really like them.

What did you do to accomodate for the outside edge of each tile to prevent dirt and crumbs from getting under the area wood meets tile?

Re: Massachusetts Flat Top Highboy

OK Piece is sanded and drying. Hopefully will have time to dye it tommorrow night.

I was wondering: is your first coat of shellac a lighter cut than the top coats? How heavy a cut do you use on the top coats?

Thanks again

Re: Massachusetts Flat Top Highboy

Would I not get a similar result from a gel stain?

And thanks again for you help.

Re: Massachusetts Flat Top Highboy

What kind of glaze do you use? I am not really sure what you mean by that, I see a glaze as a stain, it that what you mean?

Re: Massachusetts Flat Top Highboy

Makes perfect sense. Thanks, I appreciate the advice, I will be trying this soon.

Re: Massachusetts Flat Top Highboy

I really like the finish you used, very impressive!

Do you not have problems with the dye going on blotchy? What do you do?

I have a maple entretainment centre I am about to finish and your piece is making me re-think how to finish it.

Re: mount lebanon reproduction table

I am impressed, outstanding job.

What type of wood?
