I just saw this today after reading his story in the current woodworker west issue. John was my instructor for Chair Design and Construction at Cerritos College back in 1998. He is one of a kind a great teacher, amazing furniture maker, and an even better story teller which make the other two all the better.

The idea of working wood with handtools was a sad thought to me. Thanks to authors like Tom Figden I know hand tools are career altering in such a surprising and enjoyable way. Rock on!
