My wife was watching this show last night. I heard a voice exclaim, "Christian Becksvoort, the modern master of shaker" and about pood. So I abandoned my plans of heading to the basement to put shellac on a table, and watched some TV instead.

Hey, cool. I think between the original magazine article and some cabinet panels i saw, I was inspired to let a ~48" x 20" chunk of beech trunk sit around in my yard for a while. Some little white fungi fans grew on the bark, so I figured it was time.
