James Paulson, St. Johnsville, NY, USmember
Rev. Jim Paulson is second career Lutheran pastor who previously worked for the U.S. Department of Energy as an Environmental Scientist. Since 2007, Jim has enjoyed being a pastor and a professional Windsor chairmaker. When Jim studied chairmaking with Mike Dunbar at the Windsor Institute he saw how the various aspects of Windsor chairmaking resonated with his woodworking and woodcarving skills. Jim's passion for building furniture began in the early 70s and over the last 27 years he has become an advanced level woodcarver. Earlier, as a serious woodworking hobbyist, Jim made furniture, including chairs, that reflected Shaker and Country styles. Jim has remained a serious hand tool enthusiast, occasionally works as an 18th Century customed re-enactor doing primitive woodworking demonstrations, and has made some of his own woodworking tools/machines. Jim has been a subscriber of Fine Woodworking Magazine since 1982.
