Re: Wood Shop Al Fresco Redux

I also live in San Francisco and space is a premium priced thing. I like your set-up. I also use a box outside for storing wood. I siliconed the joints and put weather stripping on the lid and have much less moisture in the box now. Not possible to get rid of all of it, but it did decrease it.
Thanks for the link of the bench.

Re: UPDATE:DVD Giveaway: Revelations on Table Saw Set-up & Safety by Hendrik Varju

I learn better by watching a video. I would love to learn more about my table saw and especially have a video that shows how to make a table saw sled.

Re: Warped and dyed birch bowl

I like the simple curving lines and delicate look. Good color blending with character of wood.

Re: Solutions for splinters

I always keep a pair of Uncle Bill's tweezers hanging above my work bench and they work great. If it is too small I cover it with a piece of adhesive tape and leave it for a few hours the then pull it off in the opposite direction of entry. I always clean the area, apply some antibiotic ointment and cover it with a band-aid to keep it clean.

Re: Solutions for splinters

I keep a pair of Uncle Bill's Sliver tweesers hanging on a nail above my workbench. If it is too short to grab I apply a piece of adhesive tape over it and leave it for a little while then pull it off in the direction of entry. That usually gets it out. The little tiny ones that come from mahogany or redwood I just leave and my body reacts and then they come out with a little soaking. I always clean the area and cover it with a little antibiotic ointment and a band-aid to keep it clean.

Re: Book Giveaway: Furniture Restoration - Step-by-Step Tips and Techniques for Professional Results

Furniture restoration and repair is a marriage of creativity and wood working skills. I use furniture restoration and upholstery to relieve the stress of my job. Finding pieces that have been discarded I return them to usable condition and they become a part of people's homes. I recently found a platform rocker in a dumpster and repaired the carved arms and platform, then installed newly tied spring and reupholstered it in a beautiful wool fabric.
