Re: More Iron Work -- A Twisted Basket

Hi Dave, I went through the examples you provided with little success. After you used the follow me tool and used the line tool to make the helix I was wondering if you meant the line on surface tool but i still struggled with it, not doing as good as you did. I went with the helix plug-in you used on the twisted spindles and got the results I was looking for and got a fence built with arched gate for a house I'm about finished with. Just the finishing touch I was looking for. So thanks for the posts.
Thanks Walt

Re: Quirks with the Push/Pull Tool

Glad to see you addressing that since it has happened to me and wasn't sure how to get it to work. I also have had problems when tying to make a hole like the ones on the chair seat once the seat has been pulled to it's thickness or putting a placement for a window in a wall where the the push/pull action pushes it beyond the point in which you intended and pushes it out the other side when you can't find a surface to stop it at. Not sure if that's a very clear explanation.

Thanks for the blog entry I'm always looking to see if a new entry has been posted.

Re: Have You Run Into the Clipping Plane?

I'm pretty new to SU so some of these things come up like
"Although working to avoid graphics anomalies (holes, gaps, missing faces, and distortions), nevertheless these things can show up when doing Intersections or Follow Me's on small curvatures." this happens to me a lot especially when curves are involved. Can you explain in more detail about the scaling you mentioned or a link if it's been covered before and not sure what you and Dave refer to as(in situ).
Thanks for the help.

Re: Reusing Your Models

This is something all SU modelers should do if they plan to use it a lot, saves a lot of time redrawing things you use often.
The idea came to me after struggling to make some ogee bracket feet. I didn't want to do that again if I could help it so I saved them as components and wala there whenever I need them, the same with frame and panel doors. The only problem was scaling them which the tape measure tool and the scale tool didn't work to well in these cases. The FredoScale was my saving grace works great.
