This is a coffie table I made for my step daughters as a house warming present. Legs were made from a shipping crate that was going to be thrown away.…
I love making boxes.
I used just regular old QUIKRETE from the Home Depot, because she stated that she wanted to see the rocks come through the finish. Here is the description of the type I used.
With the strength of 4,000 psi, this QUIKRETE 60 lb. Ready-To-Use Concrete Mix is designed for general purpose concrete work, such as setting posts, sidewalks, floors, patios and more.
The fleurs-de-lis was a metal ornamental one my girlfriend had hanging on the wall at our house. I did not reinforce it and I used some professional grade concrete stain and sealer I got form a friend that stains concrete for a living. To expose the rock and smooth the top I used a blade from the home depot on my 4 inch angle grinder. I was told by my friend that in order to get a totally smooth finish I would need to use straight portland cement and sand it to a smooth finish. Hope this helps.
Thanks. It sure is heavy I plan on modifying the way I form up the concrete next time I build one to make it a lil lighter. It took 6 bags of concrete for this one.. lol. I have never been accused of under engineering anything in my life, so why start now.
one for me please...
