Re: Having Trouble Finishing? Here's a Great Product

I've been using the product for 5 or 6 years now, and I love it. I've used it on decorative boxes and small furniture pieces, all with excellent results. It's easy to use and relatively error free. I typically sand the first coat, then hand test each coat after that. Most of the time no additional sanding is required.

Re: UPDATED: What Tools Are on Your Holiday Wish List?

My shop needs a good clean up. The old Shop Vac is just about worn out, so I'm looking for dust a collection system under the tree.

Re: Benchtop Tablesaws: We Want Your Feedback

I have used a Ridgid 2400 saw with its folding stand for about 4 years and have had excellent results. I make decorative boxes and have been able to get good miter joints with the blade set to 45 degrees. The saw required very little initial adjustment when I first set it up, and although I check it frequently, I have had to do very little tweaking of the setup, even though I regularly fold it and stand it on end in the corner of my garage. The expanding top has proved very useful for ripping larger panels, and the fence has been spot on. I have made my own zero-clearance and dado inserts, and I have made a thin-strip gauge for use in cutting thin stock for miter keys. The saw does slow a little when I am cutting dadoes in oak with a full set of chippers installed. Otherwise, it has proved to be a little workhorse. I have been very pleased with its performance.

Re: Broken power tool: Junk it or fix it?

I have found that if I but a new tool, the old one starts working again. Example: I had a small cordless drill that I used for years. It was good for small jobs around the house and was a two speed drill. The switch went bad (I thought), and it would only work on the low-speed setting. I bought a new drill to replace it, intending to junk the old one. As I picked up the old on to take it to the trash bin, I pulled the trigger, and it worked in worked like a charm in both low-speed and high-speed modes. It has been working just fine ever since. Do tools get jealous?
