Re: Ron's Woodshop

I went with the concrete slab for a number of reasons.1-resale if I placed a wood floor( joist/plywood decking) it's future use could be limited. 2-Tax purpose. In my county an out building(not used for livestock) is taxed a good bit high than a detached garage.3-This shop is framed as a pole barn. We have a lot of rock here in Wv an if I used a standard foundation I could possibly run into rock an add to the cost of the foundatoin. I even thought about placing sleepers ontop of the slab with plywwod decking and foam board insulation. But at the time it was going to take a good chunk out of the budget I had set for this projet. I did track the cost at around $10,000. Hope this helps, good luck,I wouldnt change a thing on my shop, but I would probably not do it again.
