I have been woodworking for about 9 years now. I spent four of those years as a general contractor and homebuilder, but with the ever looming student loan and our current economy, I have gone back to something that allows me to have the time and ability to work in the shop as well as make money. I love woodworking and building and am working towards one day building my own house with a proper shop.

Re: Successful first try at breadboard ends

Fantastic piece, Tom. And yes, I like the room as well. I really like that you worked with the knot. It adds to the uniqueness of the piece and speaks of your ability to work with what others would have considered a defect. Great job!

Re: UPDATED: Giveaway and Poll: The Most Requested Woodworking Gifts of 2009

I would love to get a bevel up #5 or #6 bench plane from Veritas or LN (really anything from either company). I'm in the process of building a bench so I would like either the Benchcrafted vise hardware or wooden vise hardware from Lake Erie Toolworks. A set of skew chisels for cleaning out half-blind dovetails and a crosscut carcass saw from LN or Gramercy Tools. And..... you get the idea. Happy Holidays everyone!
