Re: Shoji Screen Jewelry Box
Excellent piece and excellent post. So kind of you to allow those of us woodworkers who are not worthy see how the other side lives. Thank you.

Very nice work. I really get it too. While I am not a professional woodworker, i.e. I don't have to feed my family by selling my work, I do sell my work at craft shows. That is an outstanding statement and certainly an accuarate one for the times. Keep your tools sharp and keep honing your skills. When we come out of this we'll do even better work!

Hat's off you your efforts in wooden clock making. I too have an interest in that and would enjoy reading your description in an FWW article. Good luck on number nine.

Oh man, I think I died and went to heaven. Thank God there is one show on TV that covers my passion. Hat's off to the guys who are making this possible. I hope comcast picks it up. Otherwise I'll have to buy the CD.

Nice piece. The legs struck me as Emile Jacques Ruhlman style legs. Are they laminated? I like your courage to try something different. Bubinga is a gorgeous wood but I find it tricky to finish. Overall, well done!

Isn't the computer wonderful? Now you can create gorgeous pieces of furniture without so much as lifting a chisel. Gone are all the unpleasant odors of liquids and machine dust. Wive's will applaud this and maybe even join in the creation of furniture of their own. Glory be! Glory be!

I just want to say that I am so lucky, being frozen to the East Coast, to be able to view the gorgeous work being done in the West. Thanks to Fine Woodworking and this website you bring to all of us who are passionate about wood this pleasure. Long may you wave.

Hat's off to you. Nicely done. There is great satisfaction to be had in making something out of nothing.

I like your design that combines the function of a table and lamp. The cord seems to be invisible as well. I've been thinking along the same lines but haven't taken action yet. Good luck with your designs.

Your choice of purpose for a nice little cabinet like this was well done. The cabinet was well done as well. I plan a buffet for my dining room to house my wife's linens and silverware. It will also have a side cabinet to house my normal stash of Rye Whiskey. I plan to call the piece "Quinto Real" - The Royal Fifth.

Well done. That must have come out of some ancient gut feeling. As far as I know I am decended from the Frankish tribe of Barbarians. Celts are mixed in there somewhere.

Hat's off to you. I got my wife a mother's ring that I couldn't afford at the time. A wife is certainly something worthy of working hard to produce a useful or just beautiful product from wood. Keep it up dude, you got it right!

The ability of a man with the normal number of appendages to master a material such as wood is boundless. We Americans are so accustomed to the "make it easy", "this machine does it all", "this gimmick will make your life easier" mentality stand amazed at what a human person can accomplish with simple tools. Hat's off to mankind. Together we can do anything.

I've just recently completed repairs on two old but no necessarily antique piece for a customer. He tells me of a certain quantity of Mulberry wood in his posession so that made an interesting trade for my labor. No promises were made and none asked. If he is a man of his word, I well make him a box and one for myself as well. Thanks for showing me what it could look like.

Wonderful! A craftsman with a love of history. DeVince is one of my all time heros as well. Well done and hats off to you and all that you do.

Well done Greg! Ruhlmann certainly was the snobs snob. But it remains within the ability of any man to enjoy and, if so desired, reproduce the kind of work that caused his craftsmen to pull their hair out. I sell my work to the public but only Ruhlman exists in my home. After all, I'm one eigth French...LOL!
