You know, it's great when someone comes up with a new idea - especially one that helps people or makes things safer. However, when he pushes to get it legislated so everyone HAS to give him money, that's nothing short of extortion and he should be ridden out of town after being tar-and-feathered.

After knocking on some wood, I'll keep doing my best to be smart and safe, and to pass that on to my boys and/or anyone else who steps in my shop.

Outstanding! I absolutely love it when someone takes a completely new approach to something - especially when it's as creative as this. At one point, I wanted to build guitars. Looking at this, I'd be proud to build stands this nice.

As the father of two teenaged sons, this "sculpture" evoked so many emotions, it was surprising. The lines and cast-off books create a poignancy that is striking.

As I continuously explain to the texting generation, we used to read communications that were not limited to 160 (or fewer) characters, and could actually convey complex ideas. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes their generation to return to some of the finer arts like woodworking and literature.

Then again, I saw one of their friends' most recent acquisition: a long-board (skateboard) that was made of joined mahogany, walnut, wenge and maple. Maybe there's hope, yet!

Outstanding! I've loved the idea of the human heart for Valentine's Day for years, but never would have thought of this. The realism is great. Nice, nice job. Glad to hear dad is doing well, too.

I agree - very nice job! I like the lines you've used, the handmade hardware and love the wood selection. It all comes together very well. If you follow Doug Stowe's advice to play with ideas, I suspect you will get to your hoped-for "level" of designing, very quickly.
