As a new woodworker, and much research, I have found that the one of the most important things that a newbi can do is learn how to work with handtools before picking up power tools. My thought is that if you can learn how to plane a board down with hand tools, then when you get that new 20" 3HP planner, you will really appreciate what it is doing for you. Therefore, this year, and next year I have hand tools on my wish list!
