Regardless of what safety the Saw Stop offers it will not and cannot replace safety training and training on how to use the saw. I took my guard off right after it caused a kick back that gave me a nasty bruise. The saw is too old for a riving knife and yes I've cut myself a couple times. I have an assortment of push sticks at my beck and call and make more when needed. Knowing how to use your equipment is the best safety equipment you can obtain.

Did not even think about the guard. Like some of the posts above, have not used one since I do not remember. Just need to remember to keep your fingers away from spinning sharp things!
