I've been doing fine woodworking for many years.
I'm interested in specialty boxes, including treasure boxes, burial urns, and finger jointed boxes of many kinds.
I'm also interested in antique furniture repair, and replication.
I've worked in the cabinet industry for many years, and are able to get all kinds of scrap hardwood in Cherry, Maple, Knotty Alder, Oak, Quartersawn Oak, and Hickory.

Re: Maple Burl Veneer box
Nice Job! I've made many "treasure" boxes, and am now starting to get into veneer usage. Your project gives me some great ideas. Thanks!

Re: Build a Ryczka: Part One
For those of us that strive toward and do make "Fine Woodworking" the first impression may be that this "Ryczka" is a very basic, perhaps even crude project to take on.

You need a "platform" to get that extra step up? A place to sit while you have your lunch? A "tool" that will not tip over easily? You've got it! In addition it holds together for over a half century of rough usage, as you throw it into your truck, haul it to wherever you need its convenience. Those thoughts make this project noteworthy.
It also speak to a time of simplicity, strong work ethics, and honesty.
Well Done Dziadz.
Re: Building with Choke Cherry - Part II
The choke cherry wood can be used in a small treasure box. The one's I have made are 2" x 2" x 4" with a lid using small 5mm barrel hinges.

Doug Stowe has several books on the boxes he has made, and has many ideas for using small special beautiful wood pieces into something special.
Good luck.
