Re: UPDATE: Windsor Chairmaking by James Mursell

Would love to learn chair making.

Re: Could This Tool Change Everything?

Ever notice that the people that don't get the joke can rarely spell or use homophones correctly. I don't see this as a "waist" of my time, or a waste either. Makes you wonder if the do or can read the instructions and safety rules either. Use of table saws and other power equipment (worst injury I ever had was with a number 5 sweep carving chisel) is most definitely a serious business, but the ability tolaugh at ourselves is one of life's little jokes in the first place.

Re: Shop made grooving planes

Get a life people!!!! If you don't like the video and information given, don't complain since it's clearly worth more than you paid for it. I have several projects in mind that I could use dedicated planes for, and the IDEA and info given gives me enough info to start planning planes in my mind---and perhaps a perfling plane as well, tho shaped more like a marking gauge with a small (maybe 1/16 or 3/32") plane iron instead of a scratch or knife edge iron.
Thanks for sharing and maybe stirring some innovative ideas in those of us who don't HAVE to have specifics since what you use it for and what I use it for may be different.

Re: Poll: What accessories, jigs, and shop gear are on your holiday wish list?

What I'd rather have is an above ground dedicated shop, but since my "shared" shop is in my basement/garage I need a way to keep the humidity constant and at a low level. Dust collection would help too. A Jawhorse would be nice when slabbing out and hollowing bowls and doing heavy mallet work on large carvings and chainsaw shaping.

Re: Poll: Any Machinery on your Holiday Wish List?

The definitive answer is "YES"--altho one of the table saws and/or any other multiple choice of the same type item would suffice.

Re: Poll: What power tools are on your holiday wish list?

I'd like a Tormek complete system. It seems that most edge tools I have are dull, and a Tormek (or maybe a worksharp) would allow me to sharpen without ruining steel.

Re: Poll: What hand tools are on your holiday wish list?

I'd love to have any of the Leigh-Nelson or Veritas tools(or almost anything either makes), but my real wish would be for either a set of luthiers planes or one of the "noble" tools--an adze, or a carving axe can make for some interesting results.
