Re: UPDATE: Read a review of Wooden Boxes by the giveaway winner

Well I received the book a few weeks ago and it is keeping my chair very stable, thank you Betsy! I kid I kid! I have been sifting through the pages and decided I would share my thoughts with those considering this book. Quite simply, it is a beautiful book filled with excellent illustrative projects that cover quite the gamut of tools, concepts and processes that could apply not only to the creation of Mr. Zongker's wonderful ornate boxes but other projects besides. The book contains templates for the projects, clear and concise instructions with excellent illustrations and photographs. I hate to gush but, you will learn a little bit of everything from this book. Did I mention the projects are beautiful? Thanks once again for the book I hope to do it justice and if it is any indication of the quality of your other books, it will be joined by many others.

Re: Ingenious foot-powered lathe

It is a ripper. There are a few plans floating around on how to build a treadle lathe or even pole lathes on the web. The one I actually like the best uses a bicycle freewheel gear and chain as there you can safely stop pedaling which I think from memory is actually on a Fine Woodworking article somewhere.
