Amateur woodworker for 40 years. Occasionally I get a commission for custom work. My shop is pretty well equipped, though I haven't yet sprung for a jointer; getting by using my router. Woodworking keeps me sane.

Peter, very inspiring work. I tried to visit your website, but the tabs (portfolio, technique, etc.) wouldn't open. Is there process to enter?

The other day I was asked whether or not a friend should buy the SawStop. I asked if he had small children or grandchildren around. As his answer was 'yes,' I urged him to go with SS. Otherwise, I suggested he should decide on the basis of how much self discipline he practices in his shop. IN ADDITION, isn't it interesting that Congress hesitates to regulate the banking and financial services industry, but is all to happy to be experts on table saw safety.

You had a promising piece of satire there for a moment - a poignant, transparent comment on the court's decision. You didn't need to dilute its impact with the April Fools disclaimer.

I haven't caught his show, but I look forward to it. My interest in this show is to improving my skills and procedures; if he's not about teaching, I'm unlikely to become a loyal viewer. I'm particularly eager to learn about high-end artisan work, especially de-mystifying and achieving accuracy with hand tools.

Asa, regarding the aging of the woodworking population, I'm concerned about many things, not the least of which is the implied future of my favorite magazine. I'm sure I should know this, but what is the "industry" - the manufacturers and media brands engaged in pro/hobbyist woodworking - doing to help interest younger woodworkers? I'm a media consultant and a somewhat accomplished amateur woodworker, and I don't see a unified, visible effort to refill our ranks from the younger end. I'd love to know what's going on and how enthusiasts like me can help.

I almost lost a finger tip simply getting a better grip on my Bosch Pony. If nothing else, this base adds much needed safety.
