Re: Announcing Fine Woodworking's Google SketchUp Guide for Woodworkers--The Basics

Sketchup seems like a great tool, but have not been successful making it work for anything beyond the simplest project. The Google videos are helpful, but don't address the issues I have faced in getting the tool to function like any woodworking tool- "Accurate and Fast".

Looking forward to seeing your furniture-focused approach-

Re: The Bamboo Blog - Part 1

Incredible job- nice work!!
I have worked a lot with Bamboo (was NE's largest maker of Japanese Tea Houses). You just want to be careful that you have set it up so as the Bamboo dries out, it has a place to split that won't interfere with function or support. On front pieces you can pre-split, then put the split down or back so it is not visible.

Re: How to Set Wood Sap

Tried this once on smaller pieces in a microwave- DO NOT try this- had to buy a new microwave, after picking the shrapnel out of the plaster.

It may be smart to add this technology, it may be brilliant, necessary, clever, moral, decent, and low calorie. So what.
CPSC doesn't get to tell me to buy anything, at least in this country, or so the 10th Amendment to the Constitution says.

Butt out.

Should I have made the hole in this outhouse seat round?

Re: UPDATED: What Tools Are on Your Holiday Wish List?

Clamps- some of the Bessey "K" body clamps that stay square. You can't be too thin or have enough clamps.
